About Us

Future Relics is a cooperative studio within which wondrous works in silver, gold, stones and bones are designed and handmade.

Historically informed and magically inspired, these jewels and tools are fashioned with skill and charged with meaning.
Magical rings, runic charms, torcs and circlets, armlets and amulets, feast gear, headgear and regalia are among the treasures crafted by the artists of Future Relics.

The principals of this enterprise; Bill Thorpe (aka Billy Bardo) and Glenn Herbert (aka Simon de Okewode) are renowned in many different worlds for the quality, originality and authenticity of their work.
They have been jewelers and master craftsmen to kings and queens, priests and priestesses, scholars and stage performers, new babes and newlyweds.
Emerging artist Marianne Bauer has begun to dazzle and adorn some of the same.

Future Relics offers unique pieces in precious materials that are at once timeless, original and magical.

Billy's Irish-American Roots

Second generation Irish-American Billy Thorpe comes from a long line of Irish and Irish-American musicians and storytellers.
The grandson of Irish banjo player Paddy Winch, and the nephew of Jesse and Terrence Winch of Celtic Thunder fame, the Gaelic pride runs through the aesthetic and theme of both his music and his metalwork.Sinuous silver interlace and sturdy penannular brooches issue forth from the jeweller's bench and sweet Irish rhythms and melodies from Billy's bodhran and bouzouki played at festivals, backyards, bars and living rooms across the land.

Our silver designs are solid sterling, robust enough to stand the test of time, unlike many lightweight imports.

Well versed in contemporary jewelrymaking approaches and procedures, the artists at Future Relics also share an eager interest in the history of the craft upon which modern metalsmithing is founded. Our ongoing study of historic metalwork - its procedures, styles and contexts - informs and influences the designs that emerge from the studio.

Most studios fashion jewelry in the current style of the times; at Future Relics our inspiration originates from the themes of the past. Paying special attention to recurring functions, forms and symbolism of adornment through the ages, Future Relics creations are both stylish and timeless.

We specialize in providing authentic brooches, buckles, earrings, medallions, rings, necklaces, pins and other historic metalwork to legions of admirers who attend Medieval and Renaissance Fairs throughout the East Coast. For over twenty years, Future Relics artists have crafted fine original and traditional metalwork and have created a compelling body of work that spans centuries. We offer a wide range of jewelry to celebrate and remember the special occasions in life.
